Videos that will help you learn more about Snow Sculpting
The videos below are split into 4 categories:
1) Newer videos featuring unique challenges. 2) Snow Sculpting Club badge system videos. 3) Basic Snow Sculpting Skills. 4) Obscure videos. There are now over 30 commercial free* videos . For the majority of the demos only a ‘robust plastic knife’ is used. Some videos do review other tools. Parents and guardians should always be involved in tool choice decisions. Safety first! * update Dec 2021; although my YouTube site is non-monetised I have just learned that YouTube has the right to place ads on my site anyways. |

1) Newer videos featuring unique challenges
Carving a snow gnome has become very popular and many are attempting this fairly easy carve!
The video above shows you how. IF you are more interested in written instructions, click here for a three page handout. |
And here is a new video (January, 2023) that shows an easy 5 step process to carve a gnome in snow. The video is perfect for smartphone viewing. 😆

The "Quick start: carve a face in snow!" video is actually a repeat of the second half of "Carving a face in snow: part 2!". If you want to quickly get some easy tips on carving a face, start with the above video. If you want the longer versions, watch the next two part sequence of videos. Or watch them all!

2) Snow Sculpting Club badges:
Some new sculptors will want to earn the 8 badges that I have designed. Below, please find 6 videos that support the 8 badges.
For a full written summary of the 8 badges, please see the main SNOW SCULPTING CLUB page or click here.
There is a printable certificate and badges that you cut out and glue to your certificate. And they are all now available in French and English! Posting the result on your fridge is ideal!

A 1 minute video showing how I built my SR2000 snow rotator that allows lights to shine through from the inside. The SPECIAL FEATURES menu item has more under the ROTATING PLATFORM click.

I made over 80 snow pounders and gave them away to neighbours. I call it the QP7000 and it is amazing! Riverview New Brunswick agreed. They had a community wood working group make over 300 and gave them to their community!
All in an effort to get more people involved in snow sculpting with non-packing snow. Detailed instructions can be found on the Snow Sculpting Club main page. If you can't make one though, pounding the snow into your pail with your mittens works almost as well! And if you are having challenges finding a good bucket, a restaurant might be the perfect place to get a free one. Many restaurants use big quantities of food that arrive in buckets. Many of the buckets are square. Even square buckets work well. A round bucket can be 'twisted' and 'lifted'. A square buckets cannot be 'twisted'. It can only be 'lifted'. Sometimes you have to raise it a few inches off the ground and then throw the pail down a bit for the snow to release. But it can be done! Check out the FAQ menu for more tips on releasing the pail. I now recommend immediate removal of the pail. This way you can build more. Just make sure you do not touch the sintering tower for a few hours. |
